About Us

Honouring children's emotions and development through engaging, neuro-affirming and experiential Social-Emotional Learning in a safe and supportive manner.

Best Behaved Kids is a dedicated behaviour intervention, emotion coaching and support practice (including Key Workers) based in Newcastle NSW. We commenced in 2016 providing in vivo support where children need it most: at home, at school or in the community. To gain the best results, we are a mobile service, attending appointments in the settings where the behaviours occur.

Why Best Behaved Kids?

We believe that kids are truly doing THE BEST THEY CAN, given their current level of skills, their neurotype and the environment/s they are in. It is up to us, the adults, to nurture and support kids so they experience success, understanding and inclusion. We want kids to:-

  • Be free to ENJOY their childhood and to know their worth as individuals

  • Not constantly feel they are less worthy than another because they are experiencing challenges with their behaviour; challenges that are very often way out of their control and not their choice.

As Behaviour Specialists and Key Workers we collaborate closely  with families, schools, fellow NDIS service providers and out-of-home care agencies to provide social-emotional learning, behaviour support strategies, skill development and training.

Best Behaved Kids prides itself on these  professional relationships with specialists, including Newcastle clinical psychologist Dr Lee Sturgeon who is also a member of our Best Behaved Kids' Specialist Advisory Board.

Please note that Best Behaved Kids is not an ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) based practice. Our approach is centred on the evidence around current neuroscience research and the brain-body connection.  We utilise a strengths-based  approach that is child-centred, intentional and  engaging. We believe that "Kids do well if they can" and we are thankful for  Dr Ross Greene’s evidence-based research and work with children who are displaying behaviours of concern.*
